The mention of my child’s name

by Kim Knapp

The mention of my child’s name
May bring tears to my eyes,
But it never fails to bring
Music to my ears.
If you are really my friend,
Let me hear the beautiful music of her name.
It soothes my broken heart
And sings to my soul.

I am a sixty plenty wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. I started blogging as a coping mechanism during my beautiful daughter's final journey. Vic was desperately ill for 10 years after a botched back operation. Vic's Journey ended on 18 January 2013 at 10:35. She was the most courageous person in the world and has inspired thousands of people all over the world. Vic's two boys are monuments of her existence. She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister and friend. I will miss you today, tomorrow and forever my Angle Child. https://tersiaburger.wordpress.com

  1. Just know, Tersia, that as you enter the black hole of grief – you are held in many, many hearts. Although this poem asks for others to mention her name, I see you as someone who will carry her name loudly as you move forward through your loss and pain. For me, even though I never met either of you – I feel that she was the epitome of courage and love for life. Vicky will live on as an inspiration to others. And you will also inspire many people, too. Just be sure you are not frenzied during this difficult time. Take a few moments to listen for her whispers. She will tell you she is free from pain and all right. From the beginning of reading about what you and Vicky have gone through, it is obvious that your love was deeper than words could possibly describe. Love goes on. Vicky will never be forgotten.

  2. Lovely Vicky, On Goddess Wings she Flies….Beloved Daughter. Tersia, Beloved Mother….Brave and Constant Guardian, all my love to you. Tears fill me as I read of Vicky’s passing and for you as I know what still lies ahead for you. But Wise Woman that you are, you have built here a place of love and support – we are all here with you, for you. I light a candle for Vic and for you dear Mother. Blessed be, I hold you in heart, Luna

    1. Thinking of you Tersia and also Vic’s boys. I pray they will never forget that their mother loved them and life so much that she held on to it for as long as she could even when enduring the most awful suffering. I hope that inspires them to live their lives in honour of Vic.
I was thinking about Vic on the weekend and how she clung to life when most would have given up and I was reminded of how much we take fro granted and how we let little aches and pains prevent us from doing what we were put on this earth to do and I felt truly humbled by Vic’s amazing courage and strength of spirit.

  4. We hope to hear from you often Tersia. When our loved ones passes on the loneliness then becomes part of our lives and it is then when we need people around us to comfort and talk to. Thank you for sharing your thoughts even in this time of grieve and sadness.
